Commodity Manager

You will find R&D departments in Belgium, China and offices and production facilities in Belgium (Dendermonde), Germany, Hungary, Malaysia, China, USA and Mexico. For our Purchasing Department in Dendermonde, we are looking for a Commodity Manager.



The role of the Commodity Manager is developing and implementing the commodity strategy for Plastics supplied in Europe, which is in line with PSS business needs and supply chain optimization with adequate knowledge of the commodities, the market and competition.



As a Commodity Manager, you will:


  • Be working in conjunction with the cross-functional teams, lead and execute the purchasing strategy for the assigned commodities in Europe and collaborate with the commodity managers from other regions to contribute a global strategy.
  • Maintain and improve the supplier base of the commodities considering required capacity and flexibility, competitiveness with reasonable cost structure, supplier performance in both mass production and new product development inclusive of quality controls.
  • Manage RFx process, negotiation and supplier selection for new projection in respect to the target setup by business case and nomination criteria; negotiate cost and supply contract for mass production effectively to ensure PSS’ competitive advantage in the marketplace.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and organize regular supplier performance review with follow-up actions and continuous improvement plan; set corrective measures when suppliers performance deviations happen to converge with budget and PSS stakeholders’ expectations.
  • Be on the outlook of industry trends.
  • Monitor, identify and mitigate supplier risks proactively.


What will you bring to PSS?


  • Academic/Professional Qualification: Bachelor’s degree and above, Master’s degree is preferred
  • 3 years of experience and knowledge in sourcing within a global organization.
  • Excellent proficiency in English (oral & written)
  • Awareness, critical thinking, ethical/integrity, accountable teamwork, communication skills, and milestone experience.
