Azure Cloud Architect (IaaC) – Freelance

A customer of ours in Aalst is looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Architect to join their infrastructure and security team on a long-term freelance assignment.

They are in the process of modernizing their Azure cloud environment and strengthening their security posture across applications and services. This is a highly technical role with significant architectural responsibility in a mission-critical environment.

Role:

• Design and implement scalable Azure infrastructure using Terraform and Kubernetes
• Define and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Azure Repos, and GitOps (ArgoCD)
• Build and manage AKS clusters and container registries with Docker and Helm
• Implement service mesh and observability tools (Istio, Kiali, Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger)
• Configure secure networking setups (VPN, private networks, application gateways, load balancers)
• Lead the security architecture domain, aligning with frameworks like TOGAF, SABSA, NIST
• Ensure compliance and high security standards across infrastructure and application layers

Requirements:

• 10+ years of total experience, including both solution and security architecture
• Hands-on expertise in Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Azure DevOps, Deep understanding of infrastructure-as-code and the software delivery lifecycle
• Practical experience with secure Azure networking and load balancing configurations
• Fluent in Dutch (C2)
