Fit-Out Construction Manager

Space Refinery is a fast-growing workspace design & build studio based in Brussels, Belgium. We believe offices should be designed to foster human connections, improve well-being, and boost team performance.
Job description Space Refinery is looking for a construction manager to join our team! We're looking for a hands-on fit-out professional with relevant technical knowledge, and experience in managing construction sites. A background in commercial fit-outs is preferred, but what's essential is your construction expertise and dedication to excellence in execution.

You will be in charge of...
…dealing with everything construction-related.
Here are examples of things you'll be doing:
  • Assess the condition of our leads' buildings to help us estimate the cost of the works needed
  • Identify risks & potential challenges before a project starts
  • Organize in-depth technical & mechanical analyses with different experts (electrical, HVAC, etc.)
  • Use our tools to measure, take 360° pictures, and scan our clients' spaces in 3D (you will be trained to use these tools)
  • Own the planning, budgeting, and proposal preparation for your projects from the start
  • Prepare sites for the works - access control & security, work hours, parking, etc.
  • Supervise sites day-to-day - lead site visits, make progress reports, answer questions from contractors, etc.
  • Help our clients with any technical issues post-project
  • Check and validate contractors' invoices, ensuring alignment with on-site progress
  • Control and track project costs, proactively flagging any discrepancies to avoid overruns
  • Monitor the project schedule, adjust timelines when needed, and coordinate with stakeholders to avoid delays
  • Evaluate and process change requests, ensuring feasibility, cost impact, and proper documentation
  • Ensure health and safety measures are in place and followed on-site

Profile What skills & experience are important for this position?
The essentials:
  • You're fluent in English, and Dutch or French (additional languages are a + but not necessary)
  • You have a driving license (B)
  • You have experience managing construction sites and broad knowledge of interior works, construction materials & processes
  • You're flexible, ready to start early when needed

Preferred qualifications:
  • You’ve worked on commercial interior design projects (ideally office fit-outs, design & build)
  • You are proficient in English, Dutch and French
