Information/Cyber Security Consultant

Title: Information/Cyber Security Consultant

Company: Global Leading Biotech

Location: Hybrid - Belgium, Ghent

FTE: 6 months - full-time

Planet Pharma is partnered with a leading fast growing Biotechnology company, who are currently seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Information/Cyber Security Consultant to support the CISO by running risk and security assessments for new systems, applications, and solutions. This role is twofold: you’ll not only conduct deep-dive security evaluations but also step back to design and formalize the assessment process, ensuring consistency and scalability across future projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform security and risk assessments for new systems, vendors, and solutions (internal and external), including cloud services.
  • Evaluate systems for compliance with ISO 27001, NIST, GxP, and emerging regulations like NIS2.
  • Recommend and validate security controls, configurations, and logging requirements before go-live.
  • Provide clear risk reports and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand system purpose, data sensitivity, and business impact.
  • Design and implement a standardized process/template for risk and security assessments across the organization.
  • Establish clear checkpoints for when and how security should be involved in new projects.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvements in the security assessment lifecycle.

Main Requirements

  • Proven experience conducting security assessments for new systems, applications, vendors, or solutions across GxP environments in multiple organizations.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to assess systems against relevant security standards and regulations, including ISO 27001, NIST, and emerging frameworks like NIS2.
  • Ability to provide risk-based security recommendations, considering business context, data sensitivity, organizational culture, and risk appetite—rather than strictly adhering to best practice.
  • In-depth knowledge of security controls and processes, such as background checks, traceability, and repeatability, aligned with recognized security frameworks and compliance obligations.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements, including designing and formalizing security assessment workflows in environments where structure may be lacking or evolving.
