About the Role

As a Network and Systems Administrator at RingRing, you will be at the heart of our infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the platforms that power our communication services. You will manage and optimise our network, servers, and cloud environments to guarantee seamless availability for our clients.

In this role, you’ll combine hands-on technical work with proactive monitoring and continuous improvement. You will troubleshoot issues, maintain system health, implement upgrades, and strengthen our security posture. Working closely with our security and infrastructure leadership teams, you will play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly and securely.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize infrastructure across two datacenters, ensuring systems deliver high availability, excellent performance, and robust security.
• Administer and scale virtual environments with Proxmox VE, including provisioning, monitoring, backups, and managing migration projects from VMWare ESXi.
• Manage network traffic and services using HAProxy to provide reliable load balancing, redundancy, and efficient routing.
• Configure and monitor firewalls to protect communications and ensure secure connectivity.
• Operate and support switching infrastructure by effectively managing VLANs, trunking, routing, and tuning network performance.
• Implement and monitor system security policies, including patching, hardening, and proactive incident response.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across servers, networks, and applications promptly to minimise downtime and maintain business continuity.
• Deliver targeted support for Windows and macOS devices (workstations, printers, connectivity, troubleshooting) alongside your broader infrastructure duties, dedicating less than 10% of your time to internal user assistance while driving overall technical excellence.
• Document infrastructure procedures and maintain configurations to ensure consistency, knowledge sharing, and compliance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by researching, proposing, and deploying new tools or practices that enhance reliability and efficiency.
• Ensure all systems and networks adhere to ISO27001 security standards, maintaining strong compliance and risk management.

What you’ll bring to our growing team

• A track record as a System and Network Administrator (or similar IT infrastructure role), where you thrive on making systems secure, fast, and reliable.
• Expertise in virtualization (Proxmox VE), networking (VLANs, routing, manageable switches), and firewall/VPN management (pfSense or similar), with the drive to keep learning and mastering new tech.
• Experience with load balancing and reverse proxying (HAProxy or equivalent) - help us keep things running smoothly at scale.
• Advanced understanding of IT security - from system hardening to patch management (we’re ISO27001 certified and always looking to raise the bar).
• Comfort with Linux environments and basic scripting/automation skills (Bash, Python, etc.), especially if you enjoy automating away the boring stuff.
• Hands-on with container orchestration (Kubernetes), and always looking to improve how we deploy and scale.
• Willingness to support users and solve practical issues in Windows and macOS environments - hardware, software, connectivity, printers - you’ll have real impact on your colleagues’ everyday work.
• A problem solver at heart: you dig deep, love to diagnose, and implement robust, lasting solutions.
• Enthusiastic about processes and documentation, helping us stay organized, compliant, and efficient.
• A team player with strong communication, eager to collaborate across functions and help others.
• Fluent in English and French (Dutch is a plus).

Nice to have

• Practical experience with automation and infrastructure-as-code tools like SaltStack and Terraform.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment platforms, such as Azure DevOps and Octopus Deploy.
• Hands-on knowledge of monitoring and observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or Datadog.
• Exposure to cloud environments, with a preference for AWS.
