Job Title: IT Security Expert

Overview:

Support DG TAXUD in securing trans-European IT systems for Excise, Customs, and Taxation. Work within a multi-contractor environment to strengthen security operations, ensure compliance, and manage incidents across on-premise and cloud infrastructures (AWS, Kubernetes/Tanzu).

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and follow up on IT security matters and incidents.
• Translate security requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with EU security policies and risk management standards.
• Review and assess security deliverables, plans, and contractor performance.
• Advise on business continuity, disaster recovery, and secure development (DevSecOps).
• Conduct security assessments, risk analysis, and propose improvements.
• Represent DG TAXUD in security-related meetings with partners and Member States.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in IT or related field.
• 5+ years in IT security, with hands-on incident management experience.
• Strong knowledge of SIEM, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, IAM, vulnerability management, cryptography, and secure coding.
• Familiarity with ISO 2700X, CobIT, ITIL, GDPR.
• Experience with risk assessments, penetration testing (OWASP), and IT audits.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills in a multi-stakeholder environment.
