Director of Sales

Branded Hotel in Ghent


One of the leading hotels in Ghent, this property is managed by an international hotel management company, overseeing over 1,600 hotels and resorts across the world. Working with big brands such as Hilton, Accor, Marriot and IHG as well as small independent hotels and everything in between.

As Director of Sales you will:

  • Support with the creation of the Sales and Marketing plan.
  • Continuously align and devise strategies and tactics to develop and grow the business and support revenue maximization and account profitability.
  • Attend and help drive commercial fundamentals.
  • Have ownership and responsibility for driving and delivering the agreed strategies in line with the sales and marketing plan.
  • Establish, build and manage relationships with the Brand's Key Account Directors / Managers to maximize revenue opportunities from key national accounts.
  • Actively seek / identify, secure and contract new and repeat business for all areas of the business, across all relevant market segments, specifically the overall transient market, particularly the corporate transient markets and meetings & events.
  • Become fully conversant with all Brand sales initiatives and tools, so as to utilize and build them into the Sales & Marketing plan to maximize the benefits to the hotel.
  • Identify and secure appropriate groups, tour operator and wholesale business by working with the management company Partnership Director and Revenue team to help drive revenue, particularly over shoulder periods.
  • Ensure Sales structures are appropriate in the hotels in the portfolio and resources are in place. support the hotel General Managers with the recruitment, induction, and training of the sales team members in your hotels.
  • Lead, manage, train, coach and develop the Sales team, ensuring consistently high levels of motivation and performance.
  • Ensure a Sales culture is embedded throughout the hotel teams within your hotels.
  • Develop and coach the sales team to ensure they achieve the best results.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key brand Sales and Marketing teams and ensure your hotels gain maximum exposure and benefit from brand-managed accounts and brand Sales and Marketing programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure hotels adherence to brand standards and marketing guidelines.
  • Evaluate ROI for all Sales expenditures.
  • Prepare and complete other reports and presentations as required.
  • At every opportunity ‘cross sell’ all brand properties.

To be successful in this role you have a:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major experience in sales and marketing or a related professional area.
  • Multi-language skills with proficiency in either Flemish or Dutch, and English, would be beneficial, but are not essential.
  • Have multiple years of experience in a senior sales role where you have managed sales colleague(s)
  • A business network within the Ghent or wider Benelux region would be an advantage
  • Experience with cluster / multi-property hotels
