Freelance Senior Electrical Engineer | Mining Industry

We are seeking a Freelance Senior Electrical Engineer with strong experience in the process industry and exposure to mining projects to support major industrial operations with expert electrical engineering solutions and technical leadership on a flexible, project-based basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and oversee electrical systems for process and mining operations, including power distribution, automation, and control systems.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and system optimization for electrical infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and sustainability practices.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and operational phases.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and site supervisors.
• Prepare detailed engineering reports, specifications, and project documentation.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Minimum 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in the process industry (mining sector experience beneficial).
• Strong knowledge of power systems, substations, motor control centers, and PLC/SCADA systems used in industrial environments.
• Experience in HV/LV electrical systems, reliability engineering, and energy efficiency solutions.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently on a freelance basis, meeting deadlines and deliverables.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chartered or Professional Engineer status.
• Familiarity with international industrial standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
• Experience with remote site work and commissioning.
