Business Controller


EMEA Recruitment is exclusively partnering with an international software business to find a skilled Business Controller to join their team.


As the Business Controller, you will act as a strategic finance business partner, working closely with department heads in sales, marketing, or R&D. You will play a key role in driving financial and operational KPIs, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and business case analysis. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, including C-level executives, to optimize financial performance and support the company’s transformation into a data-driven organization.

Responsibilities of the Business Controller:


  • Leading business controlling activities with a focus on SaaS financial metrics and KPIs
  • Acting as a strategic business advisor to department heads in Sales & Marketing or R&D
  • Collaborating closely with C-level executives and VPs to align budgets and forecasts
  • Defining and monitoring operational and financial KPIs to drive departmental performance
  • Supporting the transformation towards a data-driven organization by analyzing and interpreting business data
  • Facilitating cross-functional workshops and meetings with stakeholders across multiple European locations
  • Managing and optimizing financial reporting tools and systems, including SAP and subscription billing platforms
  • Traveling up to 20% to various offices across Europe to engage with teams and stakeholders


Experience required:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business controlling, with at least 3 years in a SaaS environment
  • Experience in sales, marketing, or R&D controlling is a strong plus
  • Strong understanding of SaaS KPIs such as MRR, ARR, customer lifetime value, and customer acquisition costs
  • Comfortable working with C-level executives and senior stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze operational and financial data to define and monitor KPIs
  • Fluent in English
