Customs and Trade Compliance Supervisor


The Customs & Indirect Tax Supervisor is responsible for the treatment and follow-up of customs matters and main point of contact for Belgian (BE) Customs/client queries in relation to customs matters; act as point of contact for customs issues on site, working closely with Operations Supervisors, General Manager and Neovia’s Global Tax & Trade team.


Position overview

  • Responsibility for the treatment and follow-up of customs matters and main point of contact for BE Customs/client queries in relation to customs matters; act as point of contact for customs issues on site, working closely with operation supervisor, General manager and Neovia’s Global Tax & Trade team;
  • Coordination and control of Simplified Procedures and Bonded Warehouse processes; responsibility for customs entries and declarations, globalization and e-globalization files. VAT, Intrastat and Extrastat knowledge is required;
  • Responsible for clients’ Belgian VAT filings where Neovia acts as fiscal representative for its clients including exchanging data where needed between Neovia and its clients to ensure VAT compliance obligations are met in a timely fashion.
  • Coordination, follow-up, discharge, and creation of NCTS documents (T1), ensuring adherence to customs guidelines to deliver the expect level of compliance expected by Neovia and its clients.
  • Close control of all customs operations on site, including control of all customs documents created on site – and its supporting evidence, to assist Neovia on its monthly billing activity, responsible for the billing of customs revenue on site.
  • Understanding of HTC codes for new articles/products and maintenance of correct duty tariff information in the Neovia network (our SAP and Descartes systems).
  • Being the primary point of contact with client for queries in relation to parts classification, country of origin and customs documentation accompanying a shipment.
  • Possesses excellent understanding of customs processes and ability to propose customs initiatives in a concise and methodical manner.
  • Assist Neovia to continually review and enhance tax-related processes and systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance including the development of internal control manuals.
  • Understanding of AEO principles is required, engaging with Neovia’s Global Tax & Trade team and external advisors on defining and establishing the AEO process controls for the site.
  • Ensuring existing AEO licences are updated and maintained as necessary.
  • Interface with related functional areas (logistics, purchasing, material management, Trade

Compliance) on customs matters and ensure the personnel within these areas are fully engaged on customs compliance.

  • Provide high level of customer service, interfacing with client’s service providers, brokers, freight forwarders and carriers.
  • Knowledge of CBAM compliance and filing obligations within the appropriate EU portal including assisting clients in meeting their CBAM obligations to Neovia.
  • Candidates should stay abreast of new regulations and legislative changes to ensure Neovia stays compliant.


Required/Preferred Experience

  • Experience on customs activities/simplified procedures/Bonded Warehouse is essential, experience on AEO processes are required;
  • Knowledge and use of SAP and Descartes systems a requirement
  • Absolute fluency in English/Dutch (written and spoken to business level);
  • Educated to degree level is desirable.
