Technical Supervisor (Chemical Industry)

Looking for a strategic and operational role within a recognized international company in the chemical manufacturing sector?

Our client in the chemical manufacturing sector, with state-of-the-art production facilities in Europe and North America, is seeking a Project Engineer / Site Coordinator for their site in the Ghent area in Belgium.

Reporting directly to the project team, you will hold a central position, combining operational responsibilities, strategic planning, and contractor coordination in a fast-paced industrial environment:

• Project Management: Follow daily mechanical and construction projects, coordinate scaffolding and lifting operations, and inspect temporary structures.
• Planning & Execution: Prepare project assignments and permits, conduct start-work analyses, site audits, and toolbox meetings.
• Resource Management: Oversee project materials and coordinate assignments during shutdowns.
• Contractor Leadership: Manage, evaluate, and guide contractors to ensure timely and high-quality execution.
• Safety & Compliance: Perform safety rounds, detect and resolve unsafe conditions, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Operational Support: Act as backup for colleagues and participate in on-call rotations.

This role allows you to be at the heart of critical projects, having a direct impact on operational efficiency, safety, and project success.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience, preferably in the (petro-)chemical or engineering sector.
• Fluency in Dutch and English is a must; knowledge of French and German is a plus.
• Excellent social and communication skills.
• Solid technical knowledge in construction, industrial piping, insulation, and mechanical engineering.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, and a good dose of project management experience.
