Junior Data Steward

Context:

Our client's National Control Center department is pursuing a transformation toward a more data-centric organization. This shift aims to enhance the quality of system operations and ultimately strengthen the security of electricity supply for Belgian consumers. As data becomes increasingly vital for operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making, the organization has identified several critical data domains requiring dedicated data quality roadmaps.

Role & Responsibilities:

To support this initiative, we are seeking two Operational Data Lead services to drive the data quality strategy across key operational data domains essential for managing the Belgian electricity grid and market.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the improvement of data quality for critical datasets, such as forecasted solar and wind renewable production, used by both internal and external stakeholders.
• Applying FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) to ensure data is easily accessible, well-understood, and reusable.
• Developing and maintaining a data quality strategy and roadmap for the assigned data domains.
• Acting as a key liaison between operational teams and projects/products impacting the data domain.
• Defining and monitoring KPIs related to data quality and managing action plans to improve them.

Examples of activities:

• Documenting business concepts, terms, rules, and impacts to enable KPI measurement and data governance.
• Leading root cause analyses in collaboration with Data Partners when KPIs deviate from targets.
• Contributing to projects that embed data quality processes within operational workflows.
• Aligning corrective actions and improvement initiatives with operational managers.

Profile:

• Strong understanding of the electricity sector or the ability to quickly grasp its concepts.
• Preferably holds a degree in electrical engineering or a similar technical background.
• Proven experience in data management and exploitation.
• Proactive, responsible, and capable of leading initiatives.
• Skilled in facilitating workshops and communicating effectively.
• Familiar with data models and IT architecture.
• Strong analytical skills to address complex problems in a structured manner.
• Knowledge of:
• Data Governance
• Data Quality Management
• Metadata Management
• Team-oriented with strong collaboration and persuasion skills.
• Fluent in Dutch and/or French, with a strong command of English.
