Senior Data Engineer

At Sibling, we partner with some of the most forward-thinking organisations across Belgium to help them grow world-class technology teams. One of our clients is investing heavily in their data strategy and is now looking for a Senior Data Engineer to strengthen their team

The Role is based in Antwerp, with Hybrid working.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of modern data engineering initiatives within a Microsoft Azure environment. You’ll be building and optimising data platforms, ensuring quality and compliance, and setting technical direction. As a senior figure, you’ll also guide colleagues, collaborate with external partners, and translate complex requirements into scalable solutions that bring real business impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver robust data pipelines with Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, and DBT.
• Shape and maintain modern data warehouse / lakehouse solutions.
• Apply best practices in data governance, security, and compliance (GDPR included).
• Define data contracts and ensure reliable delivery to the business.
• Act as technical lead on projects, mentoring junior engineers and supporting analysts.
• Manage CI/CD pipelines for data projects via Azure DevOps.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of data engineering experience, including at least 2 years in Microsoft Azure.
• Expertise in Azure Data Factory, Synapse, SQL, Databricks, DBT, and Power BI.
• Strong coding skills in SQL and Python.
• Solid understanding of governance, lineage, and compliance in data environments.
• The ability to clearly communicate with both technical and business stakeholders.
• A collaborative mindset with proven coaching/mentoring skills.
• Agile/Scrum experience is a plus.
• Fluency in English (basic Dutch or French is helpful)
