Claims Associate

Angove Partners are working with a specialist insurer with a strong reputation in delivering bespoke insurance solutions to clients across the sporting sector. They are seeking a Junior Claims Associate to join their growing team in Brussels, Belgium.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a legal background who isn't looking to move into private practice and apply their analytical and problem-solving skills within the insurance sector. Full training and ongoing development will be provided, making this an ideal entry point into a rewarding and progressive career in claims.

What is the role?

You will join a close-knit and experienced claims team within a well-established team, assisting with the handling and resolution of claims across a variety of lines, including Personal Accident, Civil Liability, Fire & Explosion, Legal Assistance, Travel Assistance, and D&O for Non-Profit Organisations. This position offers extensive exposure to the full claims lifecycle and the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of underwriting, policy interpretation, and client relationship management.

What will you be doing?

• Develop a strong understanding of insurance principles, legal frameworks, and industry regulations through structured training and mentorship. Support senior claims handlers in the investigation, assessment, and settlement of claims across multiple classes of business.
• Review policy wordings and coverage terms to determine liability and ensure accurate claims handling.
• Liaise directly with clients, brokers, and underwriters to obtain information and facilitate claims resolution.
• Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, correspondence, and reporting within the claims management system.
• Provide administrative support across claims processes and assist in implementing best practices.

What do you need to apply to this role?

• A legal or paralegal background (LLB or equivalent qualification preferred).
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients and colleagues.
• Eagerness to learn about the insurance industry, particularly claims management.
• Proactive and collaborative approach, with a willingness to take initiative and contribute to team success.
• Fluency in both French and Dutch.
