Lab Specialist

We're looking for a hands-on and motivated Lab Specialist to help manage and optimize the IT infrastructure of our global Telecom R&D Labs.

The Lab Specialist configures, maintains, and handles the upkeep of laboratory equipment for the use of delivery teams and Lab IT networks.  Integrates new products and solutions in the services laboratory. Ensures availability of laboratory equipment and maintains physical and environmental standards.

You'll work closely with Telecom Engineers, Corporate IT and Security teams, and IT specialists across multiple countries to ensure our lab environments are secure, high-performing, and aligned with evolving R&D needs.

This role is scoped at a senior level, reflecting the technical depth and ownership expected. However, we also welcome applications from candidates with less experience who demonstrate strong potential and a willingness to grow into the role.
 

• Own and manage the IT infrastructure of assigned R&D Labs (servers, networks, tools).
• Administer and maintain physical and virtual servers for R&D workloads.
• Optimize network infrastructure (switches, routers, VLANs, firewalls).
• Support specialized telecom R&D tools (e.g., Spirent, Wireshark, Grafana, CACTI, ...).
• Apply updates, patches, and system tuning for stability and compliance.
• Provision servers, VMs, storage, and network resources for R&D teams.
• Collaborate with Corporate IT for integration with enterprise systems.
• Partner with IT Security to enforce standards and remediate vulnerabilities.
• Share best practices across global R&D Labs.
• Act as a technical reference for complex infrastructure challenges.
• Document configurations and troubleshooting steps.
• Monitor infrastructure proactively and resolve issues.
• Recommend improvements to support evolving test needs.
   

• Degree in IT, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Experience in IT infrastructure (ideally 5+ years; global/multi-site is a plus, but motivated less experienced candidates are welcome)
• Server administration (Linux and/or Windows)
• Virtualization skills (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V)
• Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls)
• Automation & scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible, Puppet)
• Strong soft skills: problem-solving, collaboration in global teams, clear communication, proactive and hands-on attitude
