The Business Functional Analyst will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring that regulatory and banking requirements are accurately captured, analysed, and implemented within Deutsche Bank Belgium's systems and processes. This role is critical for maintaining compliance with local and EU regulations while supporting operational efficiency and strategic initiatives. You'll work on the evolution and maintenance of core banking applications, collaborate with business and technical teams and ensure that functional requirements are translated into reliable, scalable IT solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders to collect, document, and validate functional requirements; analyze banking and regulatory needs and translate them into detailed specifications; manage multiple projects using Agile/Scrum.

  • Create end-to-end functional solutions including user flows, business logic, data structures, and system interactions; ensure alignment between business needs and technical implementation.

  • Prepare functional specifications and process flows for banking and regulatory solutions; maintain clear and structured documentation throughout the delivery cycle.

  • Partner with product owners, developers, and stakeholders across all phases of solution delivery; support technical teams during development to ensure consistency.

  • Develop and execute functional test cases, perform integration testing, and validate solution quality; assist with UAT and confirm compliance with business and regulatory requirements.

  • Write and run SQL queries to verify data accuracy and support functional testing; track defects and ensure delivered features meet both business needs and system constraints.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a business or functional analyst, preferably in banking or financial services; familiarity with large-scale transactional/core systems and regulated sectors like finance or insurance.

  • Strong knowledge of legacy backend systems (e.g., mainframe, AS400), Oracle databases, and advanced SQL for data validation; solid understanding of integration flows, batch processes, and legacy architectures.

  • Ability to perform system impact analysis, assess dependencies, and model data flows; proficient in creating functional specifications and experienced with UML or similar modeling frameworks.

  • Skilled at bridging business and IT, effectively interacting with developers, architects, and infrastructure teams; experience working with multiple vendors in multicultural environments.

  • Highly analytical, pragmatic, and solution-oriented; autonomous, proactive, and organized; capable of managing deadlines, complex topics, and multi-project environments.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, economics, computer science, or related field; minimum 5 years of business/functional analysis experience in banking or financial services.

  • Fluency in English and French and/or Dutch.
