Mechanical Inspector


Mechanical Inspector (Secondary Steel)

Location: Antwerp, Belgium

Contract Duration: Mid-January 2026 to July 2026

Working Pattern: Five days per week (hours may vary depending on site activities)

Travel: Potential travel to additional fabrication sites in Poland and the Netherlands


Overview

We are supporting our client in securing a Mechanical Inspector for secondary steel fabrication activities for offshore wind structures. The role is based primarily at the Hoboken, Belgium, with occasional travel to other European fabrication sites. This position is suited to a highly competent Senior Welding/Mechanical Inspector with strong experience in offshore fabrication environments.


Core Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:

  • CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector
  • PCN Level 2 in DP, VT, MT, UT and RT
  • Proven offshore fabrication experience, ideally within the offshore wind sector
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant ISO, EN and DNV standards (including ISO 3834, EN1090 and DNV-OS-C401)
  • Ability to review and interpret ITPs, drawings and manufacturing records
  • LIMOSA qualification and valid GWO BST certificates (Working at Height, First Aid at Work, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness)
  • VCA Basic
  • Strong command of English; local language skills are advantageous


Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting daily mechanical and welding quality control surveillance
  • Reviewing weld and NDT records, monitoring WPS compliance, consumables and traceability
  • Attending and witnessing inspections, including fit up, dimensional checks and incoming goods inspections
  • Managing and updating punch lists prior to coating
  • Producing weekly inspection reports and maintaining accurate records within the client’s inspection system
  • Escalating quality concerns to the client’s Quality Engineer (note: NCRs are not raised directly by the inspector)


About the Role

This is a contract opportunity offering consistent site based work within a major offshore wind fabrication program. The position requires a high level of technical competence, strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a busy fabrication environment.

Due to contract nature and location, the client is not able to sponsor as all candidates would require to hold own eligibility to work, without restrictions in the EU.
