Electromagnetic Simulation Engineer – SI/PI & EDA Tools

About the Team:

As an Electromagnetic (EM) Tool Development Engineer, you will be part of a high-performing R&D team located in Gent, Belgium responsible for the development of the SIPro and PIPro products as commercialized by Keysight Technologies. These products provide Electronic Design Automation solutions for High Speed Digital design engineers in their design and modeling work, covering Power Integrity and Signal Integrity. Within the Agile development team, you will be responsible for development for the simulation and data flow algorithms and their implementations in the SIPro and PIPro products.



About the Job

As an Electromagnetic Simulation Engineer – SI/PI & EDA Tools, your work will directly contribute to the introduction of AI driven algorithms and tools within the EDA workflow solutions provided by Keysight. This can span a wide area: from the application of AI as part of simulation technology e.g. to speedup or automate algorithmic calculations, the application of NN for modeling, to the introduction of intelligent copilot and agent solutions that enhance productivity and streamline workflows within EDA software environments.



Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve full-wave and quasi-static EM simulation algorithms for high-speed designs.
  • Enhance software modules across SIPro and PIPro, focusing on solver performance, robustness, and scalability.
  • Integrate EM solvers into Keysight’s EDA design flows for PCB, package, and 3DIC applications.
  • Implement advanced numerical techniques, data-flow optimizations, and solver-level improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (HSD, SI/PI, software, UX) to define requirements and testing workflows.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and performant code in C++ and Python.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code quality improvements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, design reviews, and architecture discussions.
  • Support debugging, performance tuning, and customer-driven enhancements.



Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of Electromagnetic (EM) simulation techniques, numerical methods, or computational electromagnetics.
  • Hands-on experience with EM simulation tools (commercial or academic), such as FEM, MoM, FDTD, PEEC, or similar frameworks.
  • Proficiency in C++ (primary development) and Python (tooling, automation, data processing).
  • Solid understanding of software development best practices:
  • Version control (Git)
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Automated testing
  • Experience in scientific computing, numerical modeling, or algorithm development for simulation environments


Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with EDA workflows, PCB/package/3DIC design flows, or SI/PI analysis.
  • Experience with high-speed digital design, interconnect modeling, or multi-physics simulation.
  • Knowledge of Agile development and large-scale software products.
  • Background in EM modeling for commercial or research applications.
  • Experience with performance optimization, parallelization, or GPU/accelerated computation.
