Data Engineer - Data migration - Brussels

Introduction

We are looking for a freelance Data Engineer to support the refactoring of a legacy application and the migration of its data towards a modern architecture. You will focus on data quality, transformation, and migration reliability.

Tasks

• Analyse existing data models and data flows
• Assess data quality and identify inconsistencies
• Design and support data migration and transformation processes
• Validate target database schemas and migrated data
• Define data quality checks and support testing activities
• Collaborate with development and analysis teams
• Document data rules, transformations, and decisions

Requirements

• Strong experience with relational databases (DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Proven experience in data migration projects
• Solid knowledge of relational data modelling
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools and data transformation scripting (SQL, Python)
• Familiarity with Java environments and version control (Git)
• Understanding of data security and compliance principles
• Autonomous, detail-oriented, and strong communicator
• Fluent in French & English

• Freelance contract: 6 months (+extension)
