About the Role

An organisation undergoing a major cloud transformation is looking for a Lead Azure Architect to take ownership of its Azure platform and drive the technical direction of a high-impact programme. This role goes beyond delivery — it’s about leading the initiative, shaping cloud strategy, and defining how Azure, integrations, and AKS evolve across the business.

You’ll play a key role in setting standards, influencing decisions, and guiding teams through a modern, cloud-native journey. This is a highly visible position with real freedom to shape architecture and long-term direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural direction of a large-scale Azure cloud transformation.
• Define and evolve cloud strategy, governance models, and architectural standards.
• Drive the design and optimisation of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container platforms.
• Shape integration architecture, ensuring secure, scalable, and consistent connectivity.
• Work closely with engineering teams and senior stakeholders to align technical and business goals.
• Act as the senior Azure authority across security, networking, landing zones, policy, and automation.
• Guide and mentor engineers and architects, raising cloud maturity across the organisation.

Required Experience

• Strong background in Azure architecture, including governance, identity, networking, and landing zones.
• Deep hands-on experience with AKS and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Proven experience leading cloud transformation or modernisation initiatives.
• Ability to design secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-native solutions.
• Solid understanding of integration patterns (APIs, messaging, hybrid and event-driven architectures).
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence technical direction.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling (Terraform, Bicep, CI/CD).
• Background in hybrid or on-prem to cloud migration projects.
• Experience in complex enterprise environments.
