Mechanical Design Engineer – English - ALTEN Belgium

The Position

As part of our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our teams and work on client projects located in Antwerp.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

• Conduct Train Surveys: Define installation principles and prepare descriptive documentation of proposed solutions for customer approval. Assist mechanical and electrical teams in gathering pictures, dimensions, and sketches to define bracket and support points, cable routing, and cable passages.
• Design Installation Components: Use CAD software to conceive and model brackets, supports, and other means for installing onboard equipment (e.g., antennas, wheel sensors, radars, computers).
• Validate Mechanical Designs: Support the validation cycle, including participation in FEA analyses (thermal, vibration, shock, and static).
• Develop Bill of Materials (BOM): Create accurate BOMs aligned with installation requirements and compliant with train constraints and standards.
• Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with electrical engineers to develop part breakdown lists and finalize installation solutions, including cable routing and equipment connections.
• Prepare Installation Procedures: Draft detailed installation guidelines outlining steps and activities for implementation.

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in a similar position
• Proficiency in the following tools: CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks), FEA tools
• Language(s): English (mandatory), French or Dutch (a plus)
