About the Company Our client is a fast-growing international non-life insurance company in Belgium. Operating across several EU markets, the company offers a diversified range of BtoB insurance lines through strong local partnerships. With a culture grounded in agility, collaboration, and accountability, the company is now looking for an experienced Head of Underwriting to implement and monitor the underwriting controls framework and operations. As a key member of the executive team, this leader will ensure disciplined underwriting decisions, consistent risk appetite alignment, and sustainable portfolio profitability. Working closely with senior leaders in the group the Head of Underwriting will build a framework that balances innovation with technical excellence. Oversee underwriting performance, profitability, and portfolio management across geographies. Monitor market trends and competitor practices to adapt underwriting approaches for emerging risks (e.g., Deep understanding of EU insurance regulation (Solvency II, IDD) and risk-based pricing. Analytical mindset with excellent portfolio management and commercial acumen. Effective communicator, capable of engaging internal and external stakeholders (brokers, regulators, reinsurers). Fluent English required; proficiency in French or Dutch highly desirable. a professional qualification such as CII Advanced Diploma in Insurance is an asset.
