Data Engineer

We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Data Engineer with strong experience in data preparation, ETL workflows, and banking domain understanding .

You will contribute to building business‑driven digital solutions, dashboards, and ad‑hoc reports for Corporate Banking stakeholders (Sales, Business Teams, Management, etc.).

You will work on enhancing and modernizing existing Alteryx workflows, improving data integration processes, and strengthening overall data quality across environments.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Workflow Optimization

• Modernize and streamline legacy Alteryx workflows by applying clean coding principles, centralizing logic, and removing redundancies.
• Implement improvements progressively across environments, ensuring no regression on downstream dashboards and user outputs.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ingest, validate, and integrate data from multiple systems with a focus on quality, reliability, and timeliness .

Architecture & Process Improvements

• Simplify existing data flows and design for improved efficiency and performance.
• Identify and clean up obsolete datasets, unused files, and abandoned workflows.
• Harmonize historization and retention rules to maintain a clean and maintainable data landscape.

Reusable Components & Migration

• Design and maintain reusable Alteryx macros to centralize recurring transformation patterns.
• Rationalize coexistence between SAS and Alteryx , phasing out outdated SAS components and migrating relevant logic into Alteryx.

Release & Monitoring

• Improve deployment and release processes with enhanced automation and quality checks.
• Establish robust monitoring systems to track data quality, performance, and process health.
• Manage multi‑instance daily batches ensuring synchronization and efficient resource usage.

Documentation

• Apply and promote documentation standards for datasets and workflows.
• Ensure consistent naming conventions and clear descriptions for easy discovery and shared understanding.

🌍 Language Requirements

• Fluent English
• Dutch or French (at least one required)

🎓 Education & Experience

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business , or equivalent professional experience.
• 4–5+ years of relevant hands‑on experience in data engineering and ETL development.
• Strong knowledge of data flows, data preparation techniques, and relational databases .

🛠 Technical Skills

Mandatory

• Strong experience with Alteryx or similar ETL tools
• Strong SQL expertise (especially T‑SQL )
• Version control (SVN, Git)

Preferred

• Hands‑on experience with SAS
• Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
• Python or similar language
• CI/CD practices
• Experience in banking / financial services
• Working knowledge of Agile methodologies
