Electrical Engineer | Data Center | Freelance | Belgium
I am currently looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, operation, and optimisation of electrical systems within a large-scale data center environment in Belgium. This is a freelance role, offering the opportunity to work on critical infrastructure projects in a highly technical and fast-paced setting. I am looking for someone who will bring strong expertise in mission-critical electrical systems, ensuring high availability, compliance, and operational excellence across data center facilities.

Start Date: 2nd February 2026
Essential Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in electrical engineering, with significant exposure to data centers or other mission-critical facilities.
- Medium and low voltage electrical systems
- UPS systems, generators, and power distribution
- Redundancy architectures (N, N+1, 2N, etc.)
- Experience working in live, operational data center environments.
- Familiarity with relevant Belgian and EU electrical standards and regulations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a strong advantage.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working on hyperscale or colocation data centers.
- Commissioning or authorising engineer experience.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability standards.
- Previous experience working in hybrid or multi-site environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the design, review, and implementation of electrical systems for data center infrastructure (LV/MV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, power quality, and grounding systems).
- Provide technical oversight for electrical installations, upgrades, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure electrical systems meet reliability, redundancy, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct technical assessments, inspections, and commissioning activities.
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for electrical incidents or failures.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, and vendors.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to energy efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
