As announced by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, HKUST will establish Hong Kong's third medical school. We are now seeking dedicated, high-caliber and motivated individuals to join our dynamic and supportive team in various posts related to Clinical Affairs. Appointees will play a crucial role in supporting key aspects across the spectrum of clinical affairs, including supporting academic, research, and healthcare initiatives through proactive partnership building and coordination. Appointment will initially be made under the Office of the Dean of Science, transferring to the School of Medicine upon its establishment.

Key Responsibilities

Appointees will be entrusted with key responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures for establishing and managing clinical partnerships, ensuring they comply with relevant University policies, as well as local accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in negotiation, drafting, and management of agreements, memoranda of understanding, and partnership contracts with clinical service partners.
  • Facilitate and coordinate partnership activities between the School of Medicine, teaching hospitals, other health service providers, research centers, and other affiliated healthcare organizations as required, to support the delivery of clinical training and research initiatives, including quality assurance.
  • Support the maintenance of effective communication channels between clinical partners, faculty members, and administrative teams to ensure smooth collaboration and resolve operational issues in the delivery of clinical teaching and research initiatives.
  • Organize meetings, site visits, workshops, and events to enhance clinical engagement and collaboration.
  • Provide administrative and executive support to relevant School committees and meetings, including scheduling and preparation of documents and reference materials.
  • Compile regular reports, data, and documentation for management review and compliance purposes.
  • Support the liaison with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies on partnership-related matters as required.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff where appropriate, foster a collaborative and innovative work environment in pursuit of achieving the University's goals.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree, with higher relevant degree(s) and/or other professional qualifications an advantage for more senior posts, and relevant post-qualification work experience within a sizeable organization or tertiary institution within the education sector (minimum 2-3 years for Officer, 3-5 years for Assistant Manager, 5-8 years for Manager posts).
  • Good knowledge and experience of best practices in clinical affairs, including aspects related to clinical partnerships, clinical training resources, quality assurance, clinical research compliance, with an understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges in the medical education landscape.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and work well with diverse teams and individuals and motivate others.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, along with good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, with the capacity to work independently and take proactive ownership of responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua).
  • Good IT and computer application skills.

Work outside normal office hours, including weekends/public holidays or evenings may occasionally be required.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided where applicable.  Appointments will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
