Operational purchaser
Location: Belgium – Zaventem
As an Operational Buyer, you manage the full cycle of purchasing activities for ADB SAFEGATE within SCC. You place and track purchase orders, coordinate logistics, and handle planning changes. You resolve supplier and internal issues independently and collaborate closely with other departments. Working with the Strategic Buyer, you help prepare supplier review meetings, monitor supplier performance, and manage escalations. Working with the planning team, you also prepare analysis and corrective actions for our customer on-time delivery. Your proactive approach drives continuous improvement in the procurement team.
General and task management:
Purchase Order & Supplier Management
Purchase Order Management:
- Create, release, and monitor purchase orders in SAP, using its MRP capabilities.
- Track order status and ensure timely delivery of raw materials and third-party goods.
- Process order exceptions such as pull-ins, pushouts, and cancellations.
Supplier Coordination:
- Daily communication with suppliers regarding open orders, confirmations, and lead times.
- Address and resolve discrepancies and supply issues.
ERP Procurement & Data Management
SAP Procurement Operations:
- Use SAP procurement and monitoring modules to facilitate procurement workflows.
- Demonstrate a strong ambition to become SAP key user in procurement by proactively developing. SAP expertise, actively contribute to process optimization and digital transformation initiatives.
Data Accuracy:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement parameters and master data, including safety stock levels, availability checks, and minimum order quantities (MOQ).
Inventory & procurement forecast
Shortage Management:
- Ensure effective shortage management and proactively prevent business interruptions.
Inventory Optimization & demand forecasting:
- Utilize ABC/XYZ inventory analysis and demand forecasts to prioritize procurement activities, ensure alignment with projected requirements and commodity agreements, and actively work to minimize surplus, excess, and obsolete inventory while maintaining the required level of inventory to ensure on time delivery to our customers.
Departmental Interfaces & Collaboration:
- Order Management Coordinator: Prioritize purchasing activities, negotiate lead times, and communicate potential delays.
- Strategic Commodity Buyer: Support inventory reduction activities, escalation point for supplier issues & propose sourcing improvement possibilities.
- Quality Department: Follow up on return orders and address quality-related supplier issues.
- Logistics: Coordinate inbound freight, shipping methods, and resolve forwarding issues.
Skills/Qualifications
Business Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Supply & Demand management including MRP
- Performance and results-driven, with strong problem-solving skills
- Organizational skills and customer service orientation
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to maange both suppliers and your internal customers
Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree with proven experience as a buyer or in a procurement role, preferably in a SAP-driven environment.
IT skills:
- Good knowledge of Excel (ability to work on large data)
- ERP systems - SAP is a plus
- Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word & PowerPoint
Languages:
- Fluent in English
- Fluent in French and/or Dutch is a plus
