Project description
The EMM business unit requires an experienced EHS Manager to support EMM's strategic EHS obligations. The role includes managing compliance processes, enhancing EHS systems, supporting leadership teams, enabling safe operations in labs and pilot lines, and acting as the primary contact point for product stewardship, SDS/IPDS maintenance, and ESG topics.
Primary Tasks And Responsibilities
Ensuring EHS Compliance
Ensure full compliance with legal and corporate EHS obligations, including safety legislation (IDPBW organisation, possible role of Prevention Advisor) and environmental legislation.
Act as liaison between EEM, our client Site stakeholders, and SLA owners.
Prepare, present, execute, and monitor the annual EHS action plan; report progress to management.
Validate EHS compliance of new and existing processes, installations, equipment, and operations.
Follow up the SLA ISO 14001 certification system (horizon 2026–2030).
Contribute to EMM's long-term EHS and ESG strategy.
Responsible for internal/external emergency planning, SEVESO-related topics, and SWA-VR obligations.
Maintain contact with EDPBW or equivalent stakeholders.
EHS System Management
Ensure continuous improvement of the EHS management systems.
Perform internal audits and represent EMM during internal/external QEHS audits.
Maintain the BU's ISO 14001 & ISO 9001 certification requirements.
Define and follow up QEHS KPIs aligning to corporate and BU strategy.
Key user for:
– Action management system
– MOC
– Manual.2
– Incident investigation
– PRA
Act as the EHS interface for external stakeholders (our client SLA, EDPBW).
Communication & Leadership
Coach, motivate, and challenge managers and teams to ensure full EHS compliance in lab and pilot operations.
Define training and onboarding needs; ensure appropriate EHS capability building.
Lead transparent and accurate communication on EHS topics (monthly Communication ownership).
Develop and implement the internal communication strategy for EMM.
Organize EMM townhalls and company-wide events (incl. virtual formats).
Support the Management Team in people-related communication (talent reviews, surveys, etc.).
Manage day-to-day communication channels and act as Digital Hero.
Product Stewardship & ESG
Act as EMM contact point for product stewardship and ESG-related queries.
Ensure compliance with global product safety regulations (e.g., REACH).
Maintain and update SDS for products and assess supplier SDS for compliance.
Execute eSDS checks and manage related SLA obligations.
Support IPDS, MSDS request tools, ESO view, and PROHARA Qlik Sense processes.
Activate & Support EMM Teams
Guide teams in executing safety-related actions, including PPE requirements and MOC follow-up.
Support operational teams hands-on where necessary, ensuring safe scale-up activities.
Technical Profile Requirements
University or Bachelor Degree in a scientific field (chemistry, physics, metallurgy).
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as EHS Manager or Prevention Advisor level 1
Experience in an industrial (process/chemical) environment
Experience in ISO and EHS-related quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO
understand product behaviour, with a scientific background is a plus
Knowledge of SDS database / IPDS database / MSDS request tool / ESO view / PROHARA Qlik Sense / Manual.2 / Knowledge on CLP (labelling) are a plus
Comfortable working in multi-stakeholder environments and complex organizations.
Experience working across cultures.
Proficient in communication tools (PowerPoint, Photoshop, Publisher).

Methodology/Certification Requirements
Prevention Advisor Level 1 is mandatory
Environmental coordinator certificate (A/B) is mandatory
