ESG & Safety Officer – Lesico Process Piping (Belgium)

Role Summary
We are looking for a proactive ESG & Safety Officer to lead and oversee all Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) and Safety compliance activities for Lesico Process Piping. Serving major high-tech customers such as IMEC and CERN, you will be the bridge between technical safety requirements and corporate sustainability goals. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in piping safety, diplomatic stakeholder management, and a commitment to driving a \"Safety First\" culture across a multicultural workforce.

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Technical Compliance
Site Oversight: Implement and enforce HSE procedures specific to process piping (e.g., pressure testing, chemical handling, and confined space entry) in accordance with Belgian law and customer policies.
- Proactive Prevention: Conduct daily safety walks, lead interactive Toolbox Talks, and perform real-time incident prevention.
- Permit Management: Oversee Work Permits (PTW), ensuring that all high-risk piping activities are documented and mitigated.
Incident Management: Lead root-cause investigations and develop corrective action plans that prevent recurrence.
ESG & Sustainability Leadership
Environmental Stewardship: Track industry-specific metrics including hazardous waste disposal (chemicals/oils), metal scrap recycling, and energy efficiency on-site.
- Carbon Accounting: Support data collection for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, focusing on material transport and equipment fuel consumption.
- Governance & Ethics: Ensure all project activities align with Lesico's ethical standards, labor rights, and transparent reporting.
ESG Reporting: Maintain documentation to support EU sustainability directives (CSRD) and provide monthly sustainability dashboards to HQ.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
Cross-Functional Synergy: Act as the primary liaison between on-site technical teams, project managers, and HQ ESG leadership.
- Client Relations: Partner with customer safety coordinators (IMEC/CERN) to ensure Lesico's operations integrate seamlessly with their facility-wide safety frameworks.
- Internal Advisory: Support and coach site supervisors and sub-contractors to ensure a unified approach to safety and ESG compliance.

Profile & Requirements
Technical Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven track record in HSE, ESG, or compliance within industrial construction or piping environments.
- Regulations: Deep knowledge of Belgian safety regulations (VCA/PBA certification is highly advantageous).
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the risks associated with process piping, cleanrooms, or high-tech laboratory environments.
Soft Skills & Competencies:
- Diplomatic Communication: Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and influence stakeholders at all levels, from site technicians to executive directors.
- Conflict Resolution: A calm, firm approach to enforcing safety protocols while maintaining positive working relationships.
- Multicultural Collaboration: Comfort working within diverse, international teams in a high-pressure, high-precision environment.
- Organization: Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage rigorous documentation alongside active field-work.
Language Skills:
- English: Fluent (Required for reporting and client interaction).
- Dutch/French: Strong spoken ability is highly preferred for local coordination.
