Rotary canning engineer

About the Role
We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer with deep hands-on experience in hygienic canning line design — specifically rotary canning architectures and/or rotary seaming machines. You will take technical ownership of our existing canning platform and lead the engineering development of our next-generation systems. You'll work closely with the founding team, contribute directly to design decisions, and see your work go from concept to commissioned machine. This is a senior, autonomous role. We're not looking for someone to execute a brief. We're looking for someone to help write it.
About the Company
Bibotech is a Belgian design and manufacturing company specialising in kegging and canning solutions for the craft brewing industry across Europe and internationally. We build high-quality, innovative packaging equipment tailored to the real-world needs of independent breweries — compact, reliable, and engineered with intent. We are small, fast-moving, and accelerating. Our patent-pending isobaric canning technology is proof that we're serious. The next few years will define what this company becomes, and the person we hire for this role will have a direct hand in shaping that.
Responsibilities
Leading mechanical design and development of our rotary isobaric canning systems
Evolving our existing patent-pending prototype toward production-ready, scalable designs
Defining engineering standards, design methodologies, and documentation practices
Collaborating with our supply chain and manufacturing partners on component sourcing and fabrication
Participating in on-site build, commissioning, and testing phases as required
Contributing technical input to our product roadmap and innovation pipeline
Occasionally supporting client-facing technical discussions where your expertise adds value
Qualifications
Proven mechanical engineering experience in canning line design or rotary seaming machine development.
Required Skills
Strong understanding of hygienic design principles for food and beverage equipment
Solid CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, Solidedge, or similar)
Experience taking mechanical designs from concept through to manufactured, commissioned equipment
Ability to work autonomously, manage your own priorities, and plan and communicate clearly across a small team
Comfortable with occasional on-site travel for prototyping, testing, and commissioning
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with isobaric filling technology
Experience with beverage-grade seaming head geometry and tooling
Background in craft brewing equipment or food-grade stainless fabrication
Exposure to patent documentation or IP development processes
Experience working in or with small engineering businesses or startups
Pay range and compensation package
This role is remote-first. You can be based anywhere, though proximity to Belgium or Western Europe is an advantage for on-site collaboration phases. Travel will be required for prototyping, testing, and manufacturing milestones — but this is purposeful, project-driven travel, not frequent or open-ended. We respect your time and your life outside of work. We also expect full commitment when the work demands it.
Equal Opportunity Statement
Bibotech is an equal opportunity employer. We hire on merit, curiosity, and the ability to get things done.
How to Apply
If you've read this far and something clicked — that's probably not a coincidence. We'd love to hear from you. Send us a short message telling us who you are, what you've built, and why this role caught your attention. No lengthy cover letters required. Just be direct.
