Senior Project Manager - Retail Solutions (CDI/Freelance)


Position Summary

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of multiple complex software projects, ensuring successful implementation of total business solutions on time, within budget, and aligned with customer expectations.

This role involves managing large, high-risk, strategic programs requiring strong coordination across multiple functions, business units, geographic regions, and cultures. The Senior Project Manager owns project performance across cost, schedule, scope, revenue forecasting, and business growth objectives.

The role also involves building strategic partnerships with senior retail stakeholders, internal executives, vendors, and subcontractors while contributing to long-term account growth.

Key Responsibilities

Project Scoping & Pre-Sales

  • Define project opportunities and objectives
  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies
  • Develop detailed project plans and budgets
  • Identify resource requirements
  • Support sales processes and conduct client presentations
  • Identify incremental business opportunities

Project Governance & Execution

  • Lead complex cross-functional project teams
  • Manage full project lifecycle (initiation to closure)
  • Monitor and control scope, cost, schedule, and resources
  • Track financial performance and revenue forecasts
  • Trigger invoicing milestones aligned with contractual agreements
  • Ensure proof of delivery for billable activities
  • Conduct project status reviews and stakeholder communications
  • Administer contracts and support negotiations

Financial & Operational Management

  • Manage P&L responsibility (projects up to €10M)
  • Control cost/schedule/resource variances
  • Oversee vendor and subcontractor performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong experience with Agile software delivery and infrastructure project delivery approach, techniques, deliverables and lifecycles.
  • Advanced cross-functional leadership capabilities
  • Strong executive communication (written & verbal)
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously
  • Strong command of MS tools (Teams, MS Project or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of project management information systems or PSA systems
  • Familiarity with PM methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile, IPMA)
  • Strong change management capabilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of project management experience in Professional Services environments
  • Proven experience managing medium-to-large complex software implementations
  • Experience managing project P&L (Profit & Loss) up to €10M
  • Agile experience (mandatory)
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or IPMA certification (preferred)
  • Retail industry experience (Food / Non-Food) preferred
  • Languages: Native-level Flemish & French + Fluent English
