Functional/Technical Analyst

Role Overview

The Functional/Technical Analyst will play a key role in bridging business needs and system capabilities across multiple functional teams. This role is responsible for gathering and analyzing requirements, mapping processes, and defining integration specifications to support complex system interoperability initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a clear understanding of data flows, middleware, and enterprise system interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (including Operations, Legal, IT, Security, and external vendors) to elicit, clarify, and document business and technical requirements.
• Translate stakeholder needs into structured functional and technical documentation.

Process & Workflow Analysis

• Develop detailed AS-IS and TO-BE process workflows, system interaction diagrams, and end-to-end data flow maps.
• Conduct gap analysis to identify improvements, dependencies, and optimization opportunities across systems.

Integration Analysis

• Assess multiple systems involved in integration to identify functional, data, and workflow overlaps or discrepancies.
• Evaluate integration points and support the design of effective interoperability approaches.

Documentation & Specifications

• Draft clear and comprehensive specifications, interface definitions, and use cases to guide development and integration teams.
• Produce high-quality analysis artifacts including user stories, acceptance criteria, sequence diagrams, and data mapping documents.

Technical & Middleware Understanding

• Demonstrate solid understanding of middleware platforms, system connectors, APIs, data transformation techniques, and integration patterns.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure alignment between business needs, data models, and system capabilities.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

• Proven experience in requirements analysis and documentation within technical or integration-focused projects.
• Strong ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Hands-on experience producing process maps, data flow diagrams, and system interaction models.
• Knowledge of middleware technologies, APIs, and data transformation methods.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience working on system integration, interoperability programs, or multi-system environments.
• Familiarity with BPMN or similar process documentation standards.
• Background in enterprise data or application architecture is an asset.
• Experience with vendor coordination and cross-functional project teams
