The Opportunity
We are looking for a mid-level Electrical Engineer to support a growing portfolio of electrical infrastructure and utilities projects. Due to an expected increase in workload and upcoming project awards, additional engineering capacity is required to support both new project launches and ongoing planning activities for a key long-term client.
This role offers the chance to work across multiple projects, including substation installations and utility systems, within a dynamic and technically driven environment.
Project Scope
You will contribute to the design and development of electrical installations across several infrastructure projects, including:
New substations (full A–Z electrical scope)
Utility systems and installations (MCCs, UPS, transformers, pumps)
Cable calculations, electrical studies, and detailed engineering deliverables
Projects are currently in proposal and planning stages, with feasibility and detailed design phases expected to begin once contracts are awarded.
Key Responsibilities
Perform basic studies and detailed electrical engineering for utility and substation projects
Execute and/or support cable calculations and system sizing
Support project execution from concept through implementation
Coordinate internally with colleagues for high-voltage elements when required
Work independently on assigned engineering packages and deliverables
Requirements
Electrical engineering background with experience in utilities or infrastructure projects
Hands-on experience with MCCs, UPS, transformers, and pumps
Experience with cable calculations (preferred but can be developed on the job)
Familiar with basic and detailed engineering processes
Experience with Caneco or similar electrical design tools
Substation project exposure is a strong advantage (HV knowledge not required)
Able to work independently and manage technical responsibilities
Dutch-speaking (mandatory)
Why This Role is Open
Anticipated increase in project volume from Q1–Q2
Limited internal team capacity to support new project launches
Large client planning already underway for 2026
Additional support needed to manage peak workload periods
Success After 6 Months
Fully integrated into the engineering team and internal processes
Actively supporting multiple projects in parallel
Independently handling engineering tasks, studies, and calculations
Providing critical support during peak delivery periods (March–May)
This is an excellent opportunity for a freelance Electrical Engineer looking to join a technically strong team and contribute to impactful infrastructure projects in the Antwerp region.
