About the Role
Our People ID Division helps Governments to improve their services to the population in the areas of Legal Identity, Mobile ID and Border Control. Our solutions aim to improve governance, public policy, and people’s lives through efficient Identity management (physical and digital) and to secure the traveller’s journey every step of the way. As a DBA specifically you provide a critical contribution to all installations and services provided by the company. You keep up-to-date, on the top of your field in an ever changing, always improving area of data repositories. You are working together with your colleague DBA, operations and infrastructure IT team to manage and maintain our Oracle database environment. In our solutions and services, we are not limited to using Oracle only, we also have in use Maria DB clusters (Galera) and Postgres. For some instances we also experiment with NoSQL repos like CouchDB.
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and manage databases & other flavours
Design and implement database solutions
Provide support to users (e.g. developers/devops/IT/OPS using the DB)
Perform database backups and restores
Monitor database performance
Tune the database’s performance when needed
Ensure database security, proper access rights, encrypt data
Troubleshoot all kinds of database problems
Stay up-to-date on database technologies
Participate in business growth and innovation for the future
Qualifications
Master-level (or equivalent by experience)
+5 years of experience as an Database Administrator
Required Skills
Expertise with one of the following database technologies : Oracle, Postgres, MariaDB, SQL Server
Data modeling and database design
Database schema creation and management
Backup and recovery
Ensuring data integrity
Performance tuning
Security
Disaster recovery
Proficient in SQL and PL/SQL
Experience with DB clustering technologies is a definite plus
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to learn on other technologies such as Maria DB clusters and Postgres
