System Security Engineer

Our client is a Belgian company active in the logistics sector, employing approximately 500 people. To support its ongoing digital evolution, we are looking for an IT System & Security Engineer.

We are seeking a strong System Engineer who does not necessarily have extensive IT security experience but demonstrates a clear interest in developing further in this domain. Approximately 20–30% of the role will focus on security-related projects and initiatives.

Your Role

As part of the Infrastructure Team, you are responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the server and cloud infrastructure.

The environment is primarily based on Windows Servers. There are only a few Linux servers in place, so basic Linux knowledge is sufficient – deep expertise is not required.

Advanced networking expertise is not required, as most network technologies are handled by another team member. A general understanding of networking concepts is sufficient.

Your responsibilities:

• Manage and optimize Windows Server environments
• Provide basic administration for a limited Linux environment
• Administer virtualization platforms (VMWare, Hyper-V)
• Support Microsoft 365 (Azure AD / Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online)
• Contribute to automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
• Participate in infrastructure and improvement projects
• Ensure stability, performance and proper documentation

Security (20–30%):

• Support vulnerability management and patching processes
• Contribute to identity & access management
• Participate in incident handling and root cause analysis
• Assist in security monitoring and hardening initiatives
• Support continuous improvement of the overall security posture

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience
• Minimum 4 years of experience as System or Infrastructure Engineer
• Strong experience with Windows Server environments
• Basic Linux knowledge is sufficient
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (no deep expertise required)
• Strong interest in IT Security, ideally supported by initial practical experience in security-related activities
• Analytical, hands-on and solution-oriented
• Fluent in Dutch or French, with good command of English
