The Principal Solutions Engineer leads the design and development of complex solution architectures, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements and standards. This role drives requirements management, systems development, and network design activities, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and high‑quality solutions across multiple projects and initiatives. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 h3Solution Architecture /h3 ul liLeads the development of architectures for complex solutions ensuring consistency with agreed requirements. /li liEstablishes policies, principles and practices for the selection of solution architecture components. /li liManages trade‑offs and balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements within a significant area of the organisation. /li liCommunicates proposed decisions to stakeholders. /li liCoordinates and manages the target architecture across multiple projects or initiatives. /li liMaintains a stable, viable architecture and ensures consistency of design and adherence to appropriate standards across multiple projects or initiatives. /li /ul h3Requirements Definition Management /h3 ul liPlans and drives scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for large, complex initiatives. /li liSelects, adopts and adapts appropriate requirements definition and management methods, tools and techniques. /li liContributes to the development of organisational methods and standards for requirements management. /li liObtains input from, and agreement to requirements from a diverse range of stakeholders. /li liNegotiates with stakeholders to manage competing priorities and conflicts. /li liEstablishes requirements baselines. /li liEnsures changes to requirements are investigated and managed. /li /ul h3Systems Development Management /h3 ul liSets policy and drives adherence to standards for systems development. /li liLeads activities to make security and privacy integral to systems development. /li liIdentifies and manages the resources necessary for all stages of systems development projects. /li liEnsures that technical, financial and quality targets are met. /li /ul h3Network Design /h3 ul liProduces, or approves network providers', network architectures, topologies and configuration databases for own area of responsibility. /li liSpecifies design parameters for network connectivity, capacity, speed, interfacing, security and access, in line with business requirements. /li liAssesses network‑related risks and specifies recovery routines and contingency procedures. /li liCreates multiple design views to address the different stakeholders' concerns and to handle both functional and non‑functional requirements. /li /ul h3Essential Qualifications Experience /h3 ul liA Master’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 5 years post‑related experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years post‑related experience. /li liProven experience of managing teams of technical personnel. /li liKnowledge of current and future Mobile Infrastructure technologies and trends. /li liExperience with design and systems integration (e.g., AC Power distribution equipment, emergency AC Power generation and associated fuel storage, Uninterruptible Power Supply). /li liGood understanding of current and future Wireless technologies and trends (including SATCOM). /li liExperience with Architecture modelling language(s) (UML, SysML, ArchiMate, etc.) in the context of an Architecture Framework (NAFv4, TOGAF, DODAF, Zachman, etc.) and Models Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). /li liExperience in applying quality assurance practices. /li liSound experience in development, implementation, fielding, testing and maintenance of modern communications equipment. /li liTraining/Certifications: ITIL Foundation; PRINCE2 Foundation or equivalent Project Management Framework (e.g., PMP) certification. /li /ul pIf you've read the description and feel this role is a great match, we'd love to hear from you!
