Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a strategic, long-term (3-year) data transformation program. The role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing scalable data platforms using Azure ecosystem technologies, with a strong emphasis on Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.

The consultant will play a key role in modernizing the enterprise data landscape, enabling advanced analytics, business intelligence, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data architectures.
• Implement and optimize solutions using Azure Databricks (Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake).
• Develop and manage solutions within Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Dataflows, Pipelines, Warehousing).
• Build robust ETL/ELT processes using Azure-native services.
• Collaborate with data architects, BI developers, and business stakeholders.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, governance, and performance optimization.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for data solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior data engineers.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices.

Required Technical Skills

Must-Have

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.
• Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric (including Lakehouse & Data Factory components).
• Solid experience with:
• PySpark / Spark
• SQL (advanced level)
• Delta Lake
• Experience with Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, ADLS).
• Data modeling experience (medallion architecture preferred).
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of data governance and security in Azure.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Power BI integration within Fabric.
• Experience with streaming technologies.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM).
• Experience in large-scale enterprise environments.

Language Requirements

• Fluent in Flemish (Dutch) – spoken and written (mandatory).
• Professional English proficiency – spoken and written (mandatory).
