Sales Manager


Department: Analytical Testing Services (Life Sciences) Location: Belgium Reports To: General Manager Position Summary: The Commercial Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, improving commercial performance, and strengthening client relationships within a laboratory-based analytical services business (Life Sciences). This role leads commercial strategy, pricing, contract negotiations, and business development initiatives to ensure sustainable growth, profitability, and market expansion. The position will oversee Customer Service, Technical Support and Sales people in order to align commercial objectives with service delivery capabilities. Key Responsibilities Commercial Strategy & Growth: Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with business objectives. Identify and pursue new market opportunities across analytical testing services. Monitor market trends, customer needs, regulatory changes, and competitive activity. Contribute to strategic planning and annual budgeting processes. Sales Leadership & Business Development Lead and support the sales team to achieve revenue and margin targets. Establish and monitor KPIs for commercial performance. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and strategic clients. Support major proposals, tenders, and contract bids. Drive new customer acquisition and market penetration initiatives. Pricing & Contract Management Develop and maintain pricing strategies to optimize profitability. Review and approve proposals and commercial terms for significant contracts. Negotiate pricing structures, service agreements, and framework contracts. Ensure commercial compliance with corporate governance policies. Financial & Performance Management Prepare revenue forecasts and manage commercial budgets. Analyze sales data, margins, and performance trends to identify improvement opportunities. Improve gross margin through disciplined pricing and cost awareness. Provide regular commercial performance reports to senior leadership. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with laboratory operations, technical teams, finance, and marketing. Ensure smooth handover from sales to service delivery. Support service development and portfolio expansion initiatives. Contribute to continuous improvement programs. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science or related discipline (MBA desirable). 3+ years of experience in commercial management, business development, or sales leadership within laboratory services/B2B industries. Strong understanding of regulatory-driven service markets is advantageous. Demonstrated success in revenue growth and margin improvement. Experience managing tenders and negotiating commercial contracts.
