Senior AI Control Systems Engineer – English required – ALTEN Belgium

The Position

As part of our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Senior AI Control Systems Engineer to join our teams and work on client projects located in Brussels.

As a Senior AI Control Systems Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing AI-based auto-calibration methodologies with robustness guarantees.
• Designing and standardizing digital and virtual development tools for hybrid and electric powertrain systems.
• Building and maintaining system-level and vehicle-level models.
• Performing virtual validation of control strategies and supporting software testing activities.
• Planning and coordinating physical test campaigns for model and calibration validation.
• Developing automated data analysis pipelines to extract insights from test data.
• Contributing to the AI strategic roadmap in collaboration with senior management.

Your Profile

• MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering with a focus on control systems.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in optimal control, machine learning, and system identification techniques.
• Strong programming skills in MATLAB, Python, and Simulink; knowledge of Git is a plus.
• Experience with reinforcement learning or model predictive control is an asset.
• Knowledge of vehicle and powertrain dynamics (electric/hybrid) is a plus.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
