SENIOR RESEARCHER - BUILDING ENERGY MODELLING AND DIGITAL TWIN


As part of its activities in energy transition for the built environment, our partner is developing methodologies and tools to:

• Design and retrofit buildings facing climate change challenges;

• Integrate and optimize low-carbon technologies within the built environment;

• Provide energy digital twins to raise user awareness, optimize usage, enable predictive maintenance, and foster self-consumption in energy communities.


This field requires diversified expertise, including:

• Dynamic building energy modelling;

• Optimization, machine learning and predictive control, in collaboration with a specialized modelling and control group;

• Development of back-end and web interfaces, and integration with databases and BIM/GIS tools;

• Aero-thermal CFD simulations.


Responsibilities

• Develop dynamic simulation models for residential and non-residential buildings;

• Contribute to the development of digital energy twins linked to physical sensors (BMS, IoT);

• Integrate models into an existing software platform in collaboration with the software development team;

• Actively participate in EU/regional research projects and collaborate with industry partners;

• Contribute to scientific valorization through publications and conferences.


Profile

Master or Doctoral degree in Engineering or Physics with a background in heat and mass transfers and with a minimum of 3 years experience in building physics and HVAC modeling;

• Strong interest in applied research and solving practical industrial challenges;

• Team-oriented, autonomous, and comfortable in multidisciplinary environments.


Must-Have Skills

• Proven experience in dynamic building energy modelling;

Proficiency in Python and related libraries (Modelica, Dymola, EnergyPlus, etc.);

• Excellent analytical and scientific writing skills.


Nice-to-Have

• Experience in digital twins for buildings;

• Familiarity with BIM integration, sensor-based monitoring, or HVAC control;

• Interest in software development and digital platform integration;

• Experience in EU-funded projects (Horizon Europe, Interreg, etc.).
