Senior Full Stack Engineer — Web Applications | FinTech | Antwerp

Our client is a fast-scaling European FinTech player developing a cloud-based mortgage platform used by a growing portfolio of mid-market financial institutions.

The engineering and product teams are centralised in the heart of Antwerp, working closely with leadership to streamline delivery, raise quality, and elevate the impact of their technology across multiple countries.

With 12+ active financial institutions onboard and new markets rolling out, they are now strengthening their engineering squad.

Function

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you act as the technical anchor of your squad: hands-on, fast-moving, and deeply embedded in delivery. You work closely with the CTO and Product Managers to turn ideas into high-quality features, unblock your teammates, and guide the squad towards predictable, high-velocity output.

Roughly 80% of your time is pure engineering across backend and frontend, with 20% coaching and elevating the team. The role can organically grow into a team lead position, but does not require people management from day one.

Your work spans:

• Designing and shipping production-level features end to end
• Tackling complex backend logic in Python/FastAPI/Django
• Building reliable, scalable Angular frontends
• Improving architecture, tooling and engineering excellence
• Guiding junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and mentoring
• Translating product requirements into actionable technical work
• Raising the bar for security, reliability, testability and compliance in a regulated environment

Profile

You are a pragmatic, product-minded engineer with an eye for simplicity and a bias for action. You thrive in complex web architectures and know how to navigate regulated environments with confidence.

You bring:

• 6–10+ years of experience building production-grade web applications
• Strong backend mastery: Python, Django, FastAPI, REST, ORM optimisation
• Solid frontend expertise: Angular, TypeScript, state management
• Experience integrating with external systems, APIs and financial/regulated environments
• A structured engineering mindset: testability, reliability, observability
• Ability to guide peers through thoughtful coaching and actionable feedback
• Strong communication skills and comfort in hybrid/async teams
• Full professional proficiency in English (other languages not required)
