Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with various departments to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and to implement effective fire prevention strategies. Your expertise will be essential in planning and conducting fire risk analyses, managing documentation, and supporting emergency preparedness initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Fire Risk Analysis: Plan, organize, and conduct fire risk analyses in accordance with current legislation and established schedules.
  • Corrective Actions: Ensure follow-up on corrective actions resulting from fire risk analyses.
  • Advisory Support: Respond to requests for advice and guidance on fire prevention for all Engineering, BelTech, Facilities, and Business projects.
  • Document Management: Manage documentation related to fire safety, including the collection and archiving of fire department opinions and the compilation of building files (material certificates, exemptions).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with periodic control and maintenance departments (RF doors, fire detection, extinguishing systems, etc.).
  • Safety Plans Update: Collaborate in updating safety plans, including compartmentalization, evacuation routes, and placement of extinguishers.
  • Support During Inspections: Provide support to teams during visits from insurers or official organizations (DCRC, Firefighters, ANPI, etc.).
  • Evacuation Drills: Plan and organize evacuation drills for all buildings.
  • On-Call Duty: Ensure 24/7 on-call availability (callable and recallable) as part of the Internal Emergency Plan (1 week out of 7).
  • Emergency Plan Collaboration: Collaborate with the Emergency & Response Plan Manager in the development of the Internal Emergency Plan.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in fire prevention within the pharmaceutical industry (or equivalent).


Specific Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge and mastery of Belgian and European legislation regarding fire prevention.
  • Proficiency in various fire risk analysis methods.
  • Strong understanding of Belgian legislation related to Safety, Health, and Environment (Well-being Code).
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.


Problem Solving:

  • Must be proactive and assertive in recognizing, analyzing, and solving problems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage in proactive dialogue to propose pragmatic solutions in collaboration with management.
