Senior Data Scientist

• Support the Biocartis organization by performing data analysis needed for product development (assays, instruments, manufacturing line…), QC release and on market support
• Support assay development teams by developing decision trees that will be integrated in assay specific software
• Support assay development teams (internal and partner) with assay specific script development and writing
• Support the assay development teams with respect to scientific software tools and data management.

Accountabilities

• Develops tools and methods to facilitate analysis of the data generated during:
• Assay Development
• Cartridge production (including raw materials and semi-finished products)
• Instrument production
• Field usage
• Develops the decision tree that will be integrated in the assay specific software
• Writes assay specific software for our Idylla platform (LUA scripting, xml) in support of new assay development requirements of R&D and IVD. This includes definition of methods and data treatment algorithms and documentation.
• Performs data mining tasks, statistical analyses and assist other project team members with these tasks
• Keeps abreast of latest developments in bioinformatics tools to ensure state-of-the-art environment
• Works as a member of a team, is responsible for organizing own time and resources in an optimal fashion. Prioritizes assigned projects and manages time accordingly. Is able to handle more than one project simultaneously
• Provides planning input and estimations for their work to support the assay PM (project planning), functional lead and Bio IT manager (resource planning)
• Works autonomously as a Bio IT lead for projects
• Identifies improvement projects to make sure that the Bio-IT knowledge and capabilities stay in line with the Biocartis roadmap
• Supports yearly R&D budget submission in line with general guidelines received, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
• Coaches Data Scientists from technical and process point of view
• Applies industrialization and GxP expertise to build robust and reliable assays
• Independent review of Bio IT related activities in technical and design review meetings

Profile requirements

• Master in Bio-Informatics or Master in other life sciences discipline, Informatics, Applied Mathematics with experience in computational biology or equivalent through training/experience.
• Basic knowledge of :

-Risk analysis and mitigation

-Controlled development according to planning, work instructions and procedures

• Expert knowledge of:

-SW Development Lifecycle: planning, requirements, design, implementation, verification

-Assay industrialization and GxP

-Validation

-Agile Scrum

• Biocartis specific :

-Expert knowledge of Idylla Platform (Console, Instrument, Cartridge, Idylla SW eco sphere, ...)

-Profound knowledge of ASSW development (TTP, MessagePack, DT, Reporting, ...)

-Expert knowledge of Biocartis QMS & SW Development standards

• Expert knowledge of:

-Data visualization (Spotfire is a plus)

-Statistics

-Machine learning (classification, regression, …)

-Deep Learning

-Science skills (Electronics, software, mechanics, chemistry, physics, optics, thermodynamics, fluids)

• Programming skills such as:
