Competition Associate

A prestigious US law firm is looking to hire a highly motivated Competition & Antitrust Associate (3–6 years PQE) to join its thriving Brussels office. This is a standout opportunity to work at the sharp end of EU competition law, advising on merger control, cartel investigations, and complex Article 101 and 102 matters as part of a globally respected team.

You’ll be exposed to high-profile, cross-border mandates involving major international clients with real responsibility from day one and the chance to develop deep technical expertise alongside a highly collaborative group of senior lawyers.

This is a broad-based antitrust role, offering a dynamic mix of:

  • High-stakes merger control proceedings, including complex Phase I and Phase II reviews before the European Commission and national competition authorities
  • Advisory and contentious work related to Article 101 TFEU, including both horizontal and vertical agreement issues
  • Cartel investigations and regulatory enforcement defence
  • Strategic counselling on commercial arrangements and compliance
  • Sector coverage includes technology, life sciences, energy, consumer goods, industrials, and more

You will work closely with top-ranked partners and global teams, with frequent exposure to clients, economists, and regulators.

They are seeking an associate with:

  • 3–6 years’ PQE in EU competition law from a top-tier international or boutique firm
  • Hands-on experience in merger control and Article 101 TFEU work is essential
  • Strong academic credentials with a preference for candidates educated at top UK or European universities
  • EU-qualified (ideal), though other relevant qualifications will be considered if backed by EU law experience
  • Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Fluency in English is essential; additional EU languages are a plus
  • A commercially aware, team-oriented mindset and the confidence to take ownership of complex matters
