Burke Porter is one of the largest players in the end-of-line test machinery industry. The European headquarters are located in Bruges, Belgium, where the project is executed from start to finish: from the technical quotation to construction with start-up in Bruges and at the customer’s site.
About the Role
As a field engineer you are responsible for the start-up of all test machines, both during the test phase in the workshop in Bruges and at customer sites.
Your responsibilities are varied, but the emphasis is mainly on the automation part (PLC and PC).
Responsibilities
- Installation and configuration of the PLC and computer hardware.
- Testing and debugging the attached programmes.
- Performing the various entry checks, quality tests and repeatability tests of the machines.
- Completing the compliant checklists and preparing corresponding reports.
- Taking care of the necessary documentation during the machine buy-offs.
- Analysing and summarizing technical problems, in dialogue with the customer.
- Informing the engineering and project management departments about problems and making improvement proposals.
- Participating in the development, realisation and implementation of changes to the machine.
- Actively participating in the meetings to share your improvement propositions.
- Training both the operators and the maintenance staff of our customers on-site; preparing the necessary training documents.
- Providing first-line support to customers and preparing reports after interventions, trainings and assistance.
- Preparing intervention kits in collaboration with the customer service department.
- Performing impartial and confidential measurements in customer labs under the lab’s authority and in accordance with ISO 17025 and ISO 9001.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electromechanics or equivalent through experience
Required Skills
- Knowledge of multiple automation and IT systems
- Strong mechanical understanding and broad technical knowledge
- Available for relocations in the country and abroad for maximum two weeks, with a target of 50% of the annual work time
