Instrumentation & Automation Engineer

Measurement and Automation Engineer Initial 1 year freelance contract + possible extensions ASAP start As our client’s Measurement & Automation Engineer, you will support the development of novel MEMS designs in existing as well as novel technologies. You will be trained to master their well-established measurement methods, be relied on to execute and report on measurement campaigns in different projects, and develop new (semi-)automated characterization setups and data processing algorithms. You will have a hands-on role in the measurement lab, supporting R&D projects on optomechanics, acoustics, and MEMS in general. Within their team in the Fluidics and MEMS group, they work on the characterization of new optomechanical, acoustic and inertial transducers fabricated in both silicon and polymer technology. As a Measurement & Automation Engineer, you will: Build new setups for MEMS characterization, perform measurements and process the acquired data. Interact closely with the MEMS design and processing teams, as well as other characterization teams. Write technical reports and communicate with the team and other project stakeholders. You hold a master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. Affinity with experimental engineering: alignment, calibration, noise mitigation, environmental control. Proficient in Python and MATLAB, for automation, instrument control, and data analysis. General understanding of microfabrication techniques and MEMS design (e.g. Our client’s environment requires a good team player with competent communication and reporting skills. Given the international character of our client, a good knowledge of English is mandatory.
