Payroll Specialist


Job Title: Payroll Delivery Specialist

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Salary: €50,000 – €55,000 per annum

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week


We are working with a leading global HR and Payroll consultancy that is expanding its operations in Belgium. They are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team in Brussels. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a collaborative, international environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality payroll services for a broad client portfolio.


As a Payroll Specialist, you will be part of the operational team, playing a key role in meeting client deadlines while delivering both functional and technical support to internal teams and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities


Operational Delivery and Team Support

  • Provide daily support and expertise to the operational team to ensure the successful and timely delivery of payrolls and post-payroll declarations
  • Assist with system maintenance testing and help resolve technical and functional issues, reporting system defects as required
  • Update and enforce the use of process documentation to maintain operational consistency
  • Monitor the legislation roadmap, ensuring team awareness and preparedness for upcoming legal changes
  • Support year-end activities and ensure compliance with all statutory deadlines


Client Management

  • Act as the main point of contact for your assigned client portfolio
  • Ensure that all payroll data is accurate, up to date and submitted on time
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities to improve services or provide additional support, and assist with the resolution of client escalations


Business Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Provide guidance on payroll implementations and go-live activities
  • Review Statements of Work prior to client distribution to ensure clarity and accuracy
  • Work with other teams to implement automation, innovation, and continuous improvement programmes
  • Contribute to team learning and development by coaching colleagues and delivering training sessions where appropriate


Requirements


  • At least 5 years’ experience administering payroll in an HR consulting, outsourcing, or corporate setting
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll processes, practices and relevant Belgian legislation
  • Understanding of third-party systems such as timekeeping, tax, compliance and benefits systems that integrate with payroll
  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate operational risks
  • Strong skills in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning and development
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining individual accountability
