Credendo Guarantees & Speciality Risks (Credendo GSR) is a part of Credendo Group, specializing in three types of products: Credit Insurance, Surety and Single Risk and provides support to customers through its branches spread across Europe.


Credendo GSR’s mission is to support trade relations. We provide customised solutions of credit insurance, surety and single risks related to domestic and international trade transactions. We protect companies, banks and insurance undertakings against credit and political risks, and facilitate the financing of such transactions.



About the role


As a Compliance Officer at Credendo GSR, you will oversee the legal aspects of business, safeguarding company's reputation by guaranteeing that the company strictly follows law guidelines and being responsible for providing guidance on corporate governance towards the prudential authorities. The role combines responsibilities in the areas of compliance/corporate governance (70%) and legal (30%).


What you will do


Compliance/corporate governance aspects of the position:

> maintaining an effective compliance programme in cooperation with Group Compliance,

>reviewing company policies and advising management on the company’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports, aligning with group compliance standards,

>regular auditing company procedures, practices, and documents to identify possible weaknesses or risks,

>effectively communicate the company’s key ethical principles and compliance regulations,

>collaborating with other departments to create a culture of compliance,

>managing voluntary best practice relating to professional standards,

>identifying activities and practices that risk violating regulations and industry standards,

>ensuring all employees are educated on the latest regulations and processes but also the impact on the organization if these aren't complied with,

>communicating with employees and make sure everyone is aware of what they need to do to comply with internal and external laws and regulations, resolving employee concerns about legal compliance,

>taking actions in dealing with noncompliance situations, creating realistic plans to overcome them,

>ensuring that the internal controls are capable of preventing and detecting significant instances or patterns of illegal, unethical, or improper conduct by employees,

>membership of industry associations to facilitate tracking of market trends and practices which can influence on company's environment.


Legal aspects of the position:

> oversee the legal structure, branches, ensuring compliance with corporate laws and governance requirements,

> overseeing governance-related filings, disclosures, and reporting obligations,

> ensuring proper registration, incorporation, and maintenance of legal entities,

> provide strategic advice on governance frameworks and entity management.



What we expect?


> university degree (Master in Law),

>3+ years proven working experience as Compliance Officer in the insurance sector, or in an environment that is similar in substance to the position of Compliance Officer,

>fluent English and Dutch,

>strong motivation to pass the examination as compliance officer for the insurance sector within one year (if not already obtained),

>high degree of professional ethics and integrity,

>good knowledge and understanding of Belgian prudential law, corporate law and procedures,

>full comprehension of the influences of the external environment of a corporation,

>familiarity with industry practices and professional standards.
