Senior Lead Lawyer

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Lead Lawyer within DLA Piper's market-leading Financial Services and Insurance Sector team in Belgium.

This is an opportunity to join a team which is recognised for its international capability to advise on a wide variety of complex, large-scale and strategic financial services, FinTech and insurance sector matters.

About you

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have more than 5 years' PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role.

• Candidates will ideally have strong financial services / insurance / FinTech regulatory, transactional or contracting experience gained in a leading firm;
• Candidates will ideally have experience advising and representing clients in the banking, insurance, FinTech and funds industry;
• Candidates will ideally have sector experience in working on coordination of cross-border assignments, complex regulatory issues, regulatory driven strategic transactional and commercial projects, fund structuring, transactions & restructurings, financial services and insurance regulatory enforcement, as well as Brexit and FinTech related assignments.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they:

• Have a deep understanding of the technical regulatory issues that are key to our clients;
• Comply with professional standards and all relevant regulatory obligations;
• Are commercially astute and stay current on key legal and business news;
• Have excellent skills in communication, client relations, and team-working;
• Provide a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and respond effectively to requests from internal and external clients;
• Understand positive client support;
• Work co-operatively in a team, sharing information and knowledge;
• Recognise and seize opportunities for the firm, including repeat business;
• Build and develop their own network of internal and external contacts;
• Lead on business development initiatives in the department and identify ways to contribute.
