Context Our client is a major energy infrastructure company playing a key role in the energy transition and the development of future low-carbon energy carriers (hydrogen, biomethane, CO₂). As part of a large-scale modernization program of its in-house Gas Flow Management application suite, the organization is strengthening its data & analytics capabilities. The objective is to modernize the existing data platform, streamline reporting processes and prepare the architecture for future green energy flows within a modular and scalable IT landscape. The current data platform is based on Microsoft's on-premise stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), while a parallel program is preparing a progressive migration towards Azure Data & Analytics services. To support this transformation, we are looking for a Data Designer to join agile development teams and contribute to the evolution of data warehouses, datamarts and reporting solutions. Mission Objective As a Data Designer, you will transform complex datasets into structured, intuitive and business-oriented data models. You will design, document and validate data solutions that enable reporting across key business processes such as contracting, flow planning, invoicing and data publication. You will act as a bridge between business stakeholders and data engineering teams, ensuring clarity, consistency and usability of data across systems. Key Responsibilities Data Modeling & Warehouse Design Translate business requirements into conceptual and logical data models. Design data warehouses, datamarts and transformation plans (load diagrams). Document semantic layers and data load designs using UML artifacts. Maintain data dictionaries and ensure proper documentation standards. Respect existing architecture principles and system constraints. Agile Delivery & Collaboration Break down business requirements into user stories and tasks. Deliver user stories within sprint cycles. Collaborate closely with data engineers for handover and clarification. Review analysis, documentation and testing deliverables within the team. Contribute to continuous improvement of agile practices. Testing & Business Validation Create and execute test scenarios (component, system, UAT). Support business users during acceptance testing. Analyze support requests and propose structural improvements. Provide guidance on data lineage and transformation logic. Reporting & Analytics Collaborate with business teams on Power BI reporting. Analyze Gas Flow Management databases to structure usable datasets. Support both operational reporting and advanced analytics initiatives. Profile Experience & Skills Deep knowledge of Ralph Kimball data warehousing principles. Proven experience in conceptual data modelling and design. Strong analytical and synthesis skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interview business users and challenge requirements constructively. Fluent in English (spoken and written), Dutch or French would be an asset. Experience working in an Agile environment. Good knowledge of SQL (mainly DML). Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS) and/or Azure Data & Analytics tools (ADF, Synapse, Databricks) is a plus. Familiarity with energy or infrastructure sectors would be an asset. Mission Conditions Long term consulting assignment Freelance or payroll contract possible. Start date: March 2026 Location: Brussels – hybrid working model.
