Compliance Expert (AML)


We are looking for a Compliance expert to support our client's team in the insurance sector. You will act as a key point of contact and reference for both internal and external stakeholders.


Your responsibilities include:


  • Providing strategic advice to senior management and operational teams on all matters related to regulatory compliance.
  • Developing action plans and defining compliance guidelines.
  • Training and raising awareness among employees (from senior management to operational staff, both specialists and non-specialists) on compliance-related topics.
  • Overseeing the implementation of compliance requirements across all company activities and processes.
  • Making recommendations to ensure that business activities comply with applicable regulations.


Specific duties :


  • Conduct regulatory monitoring of national and international laws, codes of conduct, best practices, and directives issued by supervisory authorities.
  • Proactively identify and assess compliance risks, review existing policies and procedures, propose mitigation actions, and ensure follow-up and reporting.
  • Advise various business units on the practical application of legal and regulatory requirements, including in the context of projects (e.g., product development, organizational changes).
  • Coordinate cross-functional actions among all internal teams involved in compliance to ensure consistency across initiatives.
  • Draft and implement internal policies and procedures, monitor their application, and report on progress.
  • Organize training and awareness sessions on compliance topics (codes of conduct, group policies, communication and management tools, etc.).
  • Monitor adherence to integrity and conduct rules: analyze internal control results, conduct surveys, track risk indicators (e.g., complaint rates), and observe client interactions.
  • Ensure regular reporting of assessments, findings, and risks to governance bodies, regulatory authorities, and Group Compliance.
  • Develop the annual Compliance function action plan based on a risk-based approach.


Profile and skills:


  • Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Business Engineering or equivalent.
  • Compliance certification specific to insurance activities.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Compliance regulations, Risk Management, or Audit (internal or external) within the financial services sector.
  • Fluent in Dutch, French, and English.
  • You are results oriented with a pragmatic approach.
  • You are a team player able to work independently with a proactive attitude.
  • You are quality-minded with an eye for detail.
